Why You Should Make These Seasoned Pretzels

The Taste. Lemon pepper, dill weed, garlic powder, and one packet of dry ranch salad dressing mix come together to make these seasoned hard pretzels wonderful. They are also quite addictive!

Super Easy to Make. It takes 10 minutes to prep and 20 minutes to bake, plus a 30-minute rest in the oven to dry. That is all there is to it! You can bag them up or store them in a container to enjoy all week, if they last that long!

Only 6 Ingredients. 1 box of hard sourdough pretzels, the seasonings, and olive oil are all you need for this savory snack!

Perfect for Gifting. If you want a fun, easy gift for family and friends, this is it!

This recipe was passed down to me from Adam's Guela, an awesome woman. Whenever we make them, we think of her!

Recipe Ingredients

  • Hard Sourdough Pretzels. You will need 1 box. I used Snyder's of Hanover because, in my opinion, they are the best.
  • Lemon Pepper. I used the McCormick brand, which only comes in a larger container. If you can find a smaller size, go for it, since you only need 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Dill Weed
  • Garlic Powder. Do not confuse it with garlic salt, and please leave the salt out.
  • Dry Ranch Salad Dressing Mix. I used Hidden Valley Ranch's version, but use what is available where you live. Make sure it is a packet of dry seasoning and not a liquid.
  • Olive Oil. Canola or vegetable oil works too.

Seasoned Pretzel Swaps

Instead of hard sourdough pretzels, you can use pretzel rods, pretzel twists, or any small hard pretzel shape!

The Only Tools You Need

To make these easy seasoned pretzels, you will need:

  • Mixing Bowls. I like to mix the seasoning and oil together in one bowl. Put the broken pieces of sourdough pretzels in another, then pour the seasoning over the top to coat them.
  • Whisk and Spatula. Use a whisk to blend the seasoning, and a spatula to toss the pretzels with it and spread them out on the baking sheet.
  • Baking Sheet. You will need a medium to large baking sheet with a rim. A 13″ x 9″ pan also works.
  • Container or Ziploc Bag. Something to store the pretzels in once they are made.

How to Make Seasoned Pretzels

Mix Up the Seasoning. In a mixing bowl, whisk the spices together with the olive oil.

Break Up the Pretzels. Use a hammer, meat tenderizer, or rolling pin to crush them. Keep some larger pieces too, if you like. Add everything to a large bowl.

Pour the Seasoning Over the Top. Drizzle it over the pretzels the way you would pour melted butter over popcorn. Then toss with a spatula so every pretzel gets coated in that flavorful goodness!

Spread Them Out. Spread the seasoned pretzels across the baking sheet. You do not need to grease the sheet.

Bake, Then Dry Out. Bake for 10 minutes, stir the pretzels around, then bake another 10 minutes. Turn off the oven (keep the door closed) and let the pretzels sit in there for 30 minutes. Take them out and move them to a container. They will keep for up to 2 weeks, but I promise they will be gone well before then!

I used a larger baking sheet like the one shown above. A 13″ x 9″ pan works too.

I have not tested the recipe with any other type, but feel free to experiment! Try adding a little cayenne pepper for some heat!
